September 1746: the play "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami", which was originally written for the puppet theater and staged for the first time in August 1746 in Ôsaka at the Takemotoza, is adapted to Kabuki for the first time, produced at the Kitagawa no Shibai, produced by Nakamura Kiyosaburô I and staged with the following casting:
January 1758: first Kabuki adaptation of the puppet theater drama "Gion Sairei Shinkôki", which was originally written by Asada Icchô, Nakamura Akei and Toyotake Ôritsu in December 1757. It is simultaneously staged at the Minamigawa no Shibai [casting] and the Kitagawa no Shibai. The play is produced by Nakamura Kumetarô I at the Kitagawa no Shibai with the following casting:
March 1771: first Kabuki adaptation of the puppet theater drama "Imoseyama Onna Teikin", which is produced by Mimasu Tokujirô I with the following casting:
January 1777: premiere in Kyôto at the Kitagawa no Shibai of the drama "Keisei Tonoi Zakura", whose plot is very close to Nagawa Kamesuke I's drama "Igagoe Norikake Gappa" and which is produced by Matsuyama Kogenji with the following casting:
January 1782: the play "Tengajaya-Mura" is staged for the first time in Kyôto. It is produced by Nakayama Ihachi I at the Kitagawa no Shibai with the following casting:
September 1801: premiere at the Kitagawa no Shibai of Shiba Shisô's drama "Hakone Reigen Izari no Adauchi", which is staged with the following casting:
Summer 1802: the play "Ehon Taikôki" is staged for the first time in Kyôto. It is produced by Arashi Sankichi at the Kitagawa no Shibai with the following casting:
June 1821: Tsuruya Namboku IV's drama "Kachi Zumô Ukina no Hanabure", commonly called "Shirafuji Genta", is revived for the first time, 11 years and 3 months after its premiere in Edo at the Ichimuraza [casting]. It is staged in Kyôto at the Kitagawa no Shibai with the following casting:
November 1822: premiere at the Kitagawa no Shibai of the drama "Kajiwara Heizô Kidai no Ishikiri", a new version of the third act of "Miura no Ôsuke Ôbai Tazuna", revised by Kanazawa Ryûgoku I. It is staged with the following casting:
March 1833: premiere at the Kitagawa no Shibai of "Hana Fubuki Koi no Tekagami", which is staged with the following casting:
June 1835: the play "Sesshû Gappô-ga-Tsuji", which was originally written for the puppet theater and staged in February 1773, is adapted to Kabuki for the first time, in Kyôto at the Kitagawa no Shibai, with the following casting:
April 1866: Nakamura Shibazô II takes the name of Nakamura Shibajaku II at the Kitagawa no Shibai, playing 4 roles in the drama "Meiboku Sendai Hagi". December 1888: Arashi Wasaburô III takes the name of Arashi Tokusaburô V at the Kitagawa no Shibai. 1893: the Kitaza is definitively destroyed during the widening work of the Shijô avenue in Kyôto. |
