Their stage partners are Matsumoto Kôshirô V, Iwai hanshirô V and Ichikawa Danzô V. April 1837: Kichisaburô plays at the Ônishi no Shibai the roles of Kôemon and Tôma Saburôemon in the drama "Tengajaya-Mura". February 1839: Kichisaburô goes to Edo. March 1839: Kichisaburô plays at the Ichimuraza the roles of Gimpei, Taira Tomomori, Minamoto Yoshitsune, Kajiwara Kagetoki and Kokingo in the classic "Yoshitsune Sembon Zakura". September 1840: Kichisaburô plays at the Nakamuraza the roles of Umeômaru and Sukune Tarô in the classic "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami". January 1841: Kichisaburô plays at the Nakamuraza the role of Ishikawa Goemon in the drama "Sanmon Gosan no Kiri"; the role of Mashiba Hisayoshi is played by Bandô Hikosaburô IV. August 1841: Kichisaburô plays at the Kawarazakiza the roles of Oda Harunaga, Mashiba Hisayoshi and Sehei in the drama "Ehon Taikôki". October 1842: Kichisaburô takes part in the opening ceremony of the newly-built Nakamuraza in the district of Asakusa Saruwaka-chô, playing in the drama "Kinryûzan Chikai no Ishizue", which is produced by Nakamura Kanzaburô XII; his stage partners are Iwai Tojaku, Sawamura Tosshô II, Onoe Eizaburô III, Bandô Hikosaburô IV, Osagawa Tsuneyo IV, Arashi Izaburô II and Ichikawa Danzaburô V. January 1846: Kichisaburô goes back to Ôsaka after 7 years spent in Edo. February 1847: Kichisaburô plays at the Kado no Shibai the role of Yokawa no Zenji Kakuhan in the "Shi-no-Kiri" scene of the classic "Yoshitsune Sembon Zakura". His stage partners are Ichikawa Ebizô V (Yoshitsune), Ichikawa Kodanji IV (Tadanobu) and Arashi Rikaku II (Shizuka Gozen). May 1847: Kichisaburô plays at the Wakadayû no Shibai (Ôsaka) the role of Issun Tokubei in the sewamono "Natsu Matsuri Naniwa Kagami". His stage partners are Arashi Rikan III (Danshichi) and Ichikawa Shikô II (Sabu). Spring 1848: tour in Ise. Summer 1848: tour in Nagoya. January 1850: Kichisaburô goes to Edo and performs at the Ichimuraza. January 1852: premiere at the Ichimuraza of Sakurada Jisuke III drama "Satomi Hakkenden"; Kichisaburô plays the roles of Inuta Kobungo, Satomi Yoshizane and Aboshi Samojirô [casting]. November 1854: Kichisaburô plays at the Ichimuraza the role of Abe no Sadatô in the drama "Ôshû Adachi-ga-Hara". His stage partners are Nakamura Tomijûrô II (Sodehagi) and Nakamura Fukusuke I (Yoshiie). December 1855: Kichisaburô goes back to Ôsaka. Spring 1856: tour in Nagoya; Kichisaburô performs in the precinct of the Seijuin temple. April 1857: Kichisaburô plays at the Kado no Shibai the roles of Kô no Moronô and Sadakurô in the drama "Kanadehon Chûshingura". January 1858: Kichisaburô plays at the Naka no Shibai the role of Mashiba Hisayoshi in the drama "Keisei Setsugekka"; the role of Ishikawa Goemon is played by Onoe Tamizô II. November 1858: Kichisaburô plays at the Kitagawa no Shibai the role of Kajiwara Kagetoki in the classic "Yoshitsune Sembon Zakura". March 1859: Kichisaburô plays at the Naka no Shibai the role of Matsuômaru in the classic "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami". His stage partners are Bandô Hikosaburô IV (Sakuramaru) and Jitsukawa Enzaburô I (Umeômaru). The same drama is staged with the same casting in May in Kyôto at the Higashigawa no Shibai. April 1860: Kichisaburô plays at the Kita-Horie Ichigawa no Shibai (Ôsaka) the role of Ishikawa Goemon in the drama "Kinmon Gosan no Kiri"; the role of Mashiba Hisayoshi is played by Nakamura Kanjaku II. September 1864: Kichisaburô plays at the Naka no Shibai the roles of Kô no Moronô, Ishidô Umanojô, Tonase, Teraoka Heiemon and Amakawaya Gihei in the classic "Kanadehon Chûshingura". His stage partners are Nakamura Jakuemon I, Jitsukawa Enzaburô I, Ogino Senjo and Arashi Hinasuke VII. Kichisaburô suddenly falls ill the 26th September and dies 2 days later. Kichisaburô's tombstone is located in the precinct of the Hôzôji temple in Ôsaka. Comments: Arashi Kichisaburô III was a talented and tall actor, who was trained in Kamigata but also won a fame for himself in Edo. He was able to play a broad range of roles, as a tachiyaku, a katakiyaku (his field of excellence) or an onnagata. He fathered three sons but none of them lived long enough to become as popular as him.
