August 1851: his father Ichimura Takenojô V dies. 2 October 1855: the Ichimuraza is destroyed by the the Ansei earthquake (Ansei Daijishin). August 1868: great shûmei at the Ichimuraza; Ichimura Kakitsu IV and Ichimura Takematsu III respectively take the names of Onoe Kikugorô V and Ichimura Uzaemon XIV (the new zamoto of the Ichimuraza). November 1868: Uzaemon produces in his theater the classic "Kanadehon Chûshingura"; he plays the roles of En'ya Hangan, Ôboshi Rikiya and Ashikaga Takauji. August 1870: Ichimura Uzaemon XIV takes the name of Ichimura Kakitsu V. January 1871: Ichimura Kakitsu V takes back the name of Ichimura Uzaemon XIV. September 1871: the Ichimuraza debts are too heavy for Uzaemon, who decides to leave the management of the theater to Fukuchi Mohei; Ichimura Uzaemon XIV takes back the name of Ichimura Kakitsu V and Fukuchi Mohei changes the name of the theater to Murayamaza, whose new zamoto is Fukuchi Mohei's son, a 10 years old boy who takes the name of Murayama Matasaburô II. November 1871: Kakitsu plays at the Nakamuraza in the classic "Yoshitsune Sembon Zakura". April 1872: Ichimura Kakitsu V takes the name of Bandô Kakitsu I. March 1873: premiere at the Murayamaza of Kawatake Mokuami's drama "Taiko no Oto Chiyû Sanryaku"; Kakitsu plays the roles of Sakurai, Takigawa and Ukyô [casting]. June 1873: premiere at the Nakamuraza of Kawatake Mokuami's drama "Tsuyu Kosode Mukashi Hachijô", commonly called "Kamiyui Shinza"; Kakitsu plays the role of Chûshichi [casting]. September 1873: Kakitsu plays at the Murayamaza in the drama "Hana Momiji Nori no Ongaku", which commemorates the the 49th anniversary (50th memorial service) and the the 22nd anniversary (23rd memorial service) of the deaths of Ichimura Uzaemon XI and Ichimura Takenojô V. June 1878: Kakitsu takes part in the reopening ceremony of the Shintomiza. September 1878: Kakitsu takes part in the reopening ceremony Ichimuraza, which is no more managed by the Ichimura clan. 16 July 1879: Kakitsu takes part in the gala night at the Shintomiza in the honor of the General Ulysses S. Grant [more details]. March 1881: premiere at the Shintomiza of Kawatake Mokuami's masterpiece "Kumo ni Magou Ueno no Hatsuhana"; Kakitsu plays the role of Lord Matsue [casting]. June 1881: premiere at the Shintomiza of Kawatake Mokuami's dance-drama "Tsuchi Gumo"; Kakitsu plays the role of Minamoto Raikô [casting]. December 1883: tour in Nagoya with Ichikawa Sadanji I. February 1885: Kakitsu takes part in the opening ceremony of the Chitoseza [info]. March 1886: première at the Chitoseza of Kawatake Mokuami's drama "Mekura Nagaya Ume-ga-Kagatobi" in which Kakitsu plays the role of Minosuke [casting]. March 1893: Kakitsu appears on stage for the last time, at the Ichimuraza, playing in the drama "Yamabiraki Meguro Shinfuji". Comments: Bandô Kakitsu I was a Meiji tachiyaku, who excelled in wagotoshi roles. he was also the last zamoto of the Ichimuraza.
