Adopted by Nakamura Tomijûrô I, he receives the name of Nakamura Hatsugorô. Fall 1752: Hatsugorô goes to Edo with his adopted father Nakamura Tomijûrô I. November 1753: Hatsugorô makes his first official stage apperance, at the Nakamuraza, where he performs as a koyaku in the kaomise drama "Hyakumanki Tsuwamono Taiheiki". Fall 1759: Hatsugorô and his adopted father Nakamura Tomijûrô I go back to Kamigata. November 1759: Hatsugorô plays at the Kado no Shibai in Namiki Shôzô I's kaomise drama "Saiwai Genji Chôkyû no Maki", which is produced by Nakayama Bunshichi I. November 1763: Nakamura Hatsugorô takes the name of Iwai Hannosuke in Kyôto, playing in the kaomise drama "Shôchikubai Ôshimadai". November 1764: Iwai Hannosuke takes the name of Iwai Hanshirô in Kyôto, playing the roles of Honda Jirô and Honda Saburô in the kaomise drama "Gempei Tsûrikimaru". November 1765: the disciple of Iwai Hanshirô III's son-in-law takes the name of Iwai Hanshirô IV in Edo. The Hanshirô in Edo is considered as the real heir of the Iwai clan whereas the Hanshirô in Kamigata is not acknowledged as a legitimate holder of the name, even if he is a tachiyaku like Iwai Hanshirô III whereas Iwai Hanshirô IV is an onnagata! November 1769: Iwai Hanshirô takes the name of Nakamura Shingorô II in Kyôto, playing in the kaomise drama "Asahimaru Genji Kagami", which is produced by Onoe Kumesuke. January 1770: Nakamura Shingorô II takes the name of Nakamura Shinkichi in the same theater, playing two roles in the new year drama "Keisei Kayoi Chidori". Fall 1770: Shinkichi goes to Ôsaka. November 1770: Nakamura Shinkichi takes back the name of Nakamura Shingorô II at the Naka no Shibai, playing the roles of Suma no Gunta and the yakko Yatahei in the kaomise drama "Ma'ichimonjiya Sakigake Hyôban", which is produced by Ogawa Kichitarô I. January 1771: Shingorô's rank in the Ôsaka hyôbanki, katakiyaku section, is jô-jô (superior - superior). Fall 1774: Shingorô goes to Edo. November 1774: Shingorô plays at the Moritaza the role of the yakko Imahei in the kaomise drama "Ichi no Tomi Tsuki no Kaomise"; his stage partners are his adopted father Nakamura Tomijûrô I, Ichikawa Danjûrô V, Matsumoto Kôshirô IV, Bandô Mitsugorô I, Ôtani Hiroemon III, Bandô Matatarô IV, Sawamura Chôjûrô IV, Iwai Hanshirô IV and Nakamura Noshio I. January 1776: Shingorô plays in the same theater the role of Yamabuki Gozen in the new year program "Sono Kyôdai Fuji no Sugatami". This is his last stage appearance. He falls ill and has to retire from the Kabuki world. 19 November 1777: Shingorô and Nakamura Noshio I, the other adopted son of Nakamura Tomijûrô I, die in Edo the same day. Comments: Nakamura Shingorô II was a promising tachiyaku actor, who made his career from the beginning of the 1750s to the end of the 1770s not only in his native Kamigata but also on the stages of Edo. He was unfortunately too frail and died in his prime.
