The kaomise drama "Inari Yashiki Daikoku Bashira" was
produced in the 11th lunar month of 1717  in ďsaka at the Naka no Shibai by Sawamura Ch˘jűr˘ I.
The opening day was the 2nd day of the 11th lunar month of the 2nd year of the Ky˘h˘ era, which
was the 4th of December 1717 in the western calendar. A kiri ky˘gen entitled "ďsaka Shinjű Hajimari" 
was staged from the 1st day of the 12th lunar month (the 2nd of January 1718 in the western calendar).
The kaomise and the kiri ky˘gen were staged with the following casting:

 This drama was a shinjűmono based on the story of Ch˘emon and his lover Ichinoj˘.
The 17th day of the 5th lunar month of the 3rd year of the Tenna era (the 11th of June 1683 in the western calendar), the courtesan Yamatoya Ichinoj˘ and her lover Goze no Ch˘emon committed suicide together in ďsaka.
This event caused quite a stir and three ďsaka theaters decided to capitalize on the situation
by simultaneously producing the same month the first shinjűmono of Kabuki history.
