Career:

1688: he starts his career in Edo as a disciple of Matsumoto Kozarashi, who gives him the name of Matsumoto Sakuya and trains him as a wakashugata. Later on, he takes the name of Matsumoto Shirosaburô.

1694: Shirosaburô becomes tachiyaku.

1707: Shirosaburô becomes oyajigata. He also holds the position of tôdori at the Moritaza.

November 1707: Shirosaburô plays at the Moritaza the role of Ono Yoshizane in the kaomise drama "Kankatsu Kayoi Komachi".

March 1709: Shirosaburô's rank in the Edo hyôbanki, oyajigata section, is jô-jô (superior - superior). He shares this rank with Ôkuma Utaemon and Kamakura Chôkurô I.

November 1709: Shirosaburô plays at the Moritaza in the kaomise drama "Tametomo Furiwakegami", which welcomes in Edo the Ôsaka actors Hisamatsu Tasanta and Iwai Tamanoe. The others actors are Tomizawa Hanzaburô I, Sakurayama Shirosaburô I, Takii Hannosuke, Narukawa Genzaemon, Shirosaburô's son Ichikawa Danzô I and Saruwaka Sanzaemon II.

March 1710: Shirosaburô's rank in the Edo hyôbanki, oyajigata section, is jô-jô-(shiro)kichi (superior - superior - (white) excellent).

November 1710: Shirosaburô plays at the Moritaza in the kaomise drama "Onna Tsuwamono Tokiwa no Matsu"; his stage partners are Shinomiya Gempachi, Hayakawa Dengorô, Takahashi Motojirô, Tsutsui Kichijûrô I, Hisamatsu Tasanta, Saigoku Hyôsuke, Yasuda Kichirôji, Narukawa Genzaemon, Shirosaburô's son Ichikawa Danzô I, Saruwaka Sanzaemon II and Fujioka Daikichi.

January 1711: Shirosaburô's rank in the Edo hyôbanki, oyajigata section, is jô-jô-kichi (superior - superior - excellent).

February 1713: Shirosaburô is expected to perform at the Moritaza but he suddenly falls ill. His name does not appear anymore in any Edo banzuke. The year of his death is unknown.

Matsumoto Shirosaburô was a mainstay of the Moritaza, where he successfully acted as an oyajigata and worked as a tôdori at the beginning of the 18th century.
