Comments:

Born and trained in Kamigata, Ichiyama Dengorô ended his 10-year career in Edo. He was active from the middle of the 1730s to the middle of the 1740s. This actor, who was tachiyaku or jitsuaku, succeeded in reaching the prestigious jô-jô-kichi ranking.

[1] Not reported in Nojima Jusaburô's book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten". Ichiyama Dengorô performed for the first time in ôshibai, in Ôsaka at the Ônishi no Shibai, in a troupe starring Ichiyama Sukegorô I. We do think that he was indeed a disciple of this actor.
