Career:

1849 ~ 1866: he starts his career at an unknown date as a disciple of the actor Onoe Kikujirô II, who gives him the name of Onoe Kikumatsu.

August 1866: he is adopted by Onoe Kikujirô II and takes the long-forgotten name of Onoe Taganojô II at the Moritaza, playing in the drama "Kôtei Kidan Rokujû Yoshû".

14 June 1875: his adopted father Onoe Kikujirô II dies.

August 1879: Taganojô takes part in the opening ceremony of the Hisamatsuza [info].

May 1894: Taganojô appears on stage in Tôkyô for the last time, at the Shintomiza, playing the role of Princess Takiyasha in the drama "Shinobi Yoru Koi no Kusemono"; the role of Mitsukuni is played by Ichikawa Kuzô III. Then, he becomes a travelling actor.

1899: Taganojô goes on tour with a troupe led by Ichikawa Danzô VII. He suddenly dies the 26th of June 1899 in the city of Kanazawa.

Onoe Taganojô II was a good onnagata actor of the Meiji era. His forte were spouse roles in jidaimono drama.
