January 1697: premiere of the bombastic "Shibaraku" scene (kabuki jûhachiban), at the Nakamuraza, performed within the drama "Daifukuchô Sankai Nagoya". Ichikawa Danjûrô I plays the superhero role; his stage partners are the onnagata Ogino Sawanojô and the katakiyaku Yamanaka Heikurô I. 10 December 1698: a fire breaks out in the district of Nihombashi Hongoku-chô, burning down the Nakamuraza.
