The actor Ichikawa Shôchô II held the name of Ichikawa Enjaku I from September 1906 to December 1911.

Born the 16th of November 1901. Disciple of Ichikawa Enshô II, he received the name of Ichikawa Tsutamaru and started his career in March 1905 at the Meijiza, where he performed in "Terakoya". Later, he became a disciple of Ichikawa Shôchô II. He became nadai and took the name of Ichikawa Enjaku II in September 1922 at the Meijiza, where he played the roles of Tôzaemon's daughter Ohaya and the female kamiyui Omatsu in "Tsuri Tenjô" and "Nazo no Obi Chotto Tokubê". He appeared on stage for the last time in June 1966, in Tôkyô at the Kabukiza, where he performed in the drama "Sushiya". He died the 2nd of November 1967. This supporting onnagata actor was said to be an expert on Kabuki with a humorous personality. He was loved and appreciated by all backstage.
