  The actor Ichikawa Danzô I held this name from the 3rd lunar month of 1698 to the 4th lunar month of 1740.

Born in Edo in 1710. He was the son of Ichikawa Danzô I, starting to perform under the name of Ichikawa Ichisaburô. He left Edo after a quarrel with his father and became a travelling actor (tabi shibai). He was performing in the city of Utsunomiya when he heard of the passing away of his father in the 4th lunar month of 1740. He went back to Edo and took the name of Ichikawa Danzô II in the 7th lunar month of 1740. He died a few months later, the 20th of the 10th lunar month of 1740 [2].

[2] The 20th of the 10th lunar month of the 5th year of the Genbun era was the 8th of December 1740 in the western calendar.
