May 1953: he becomes disciple of the actor Sawamura Tosshi VIII and receives the name of Sawamura Kuninosuke at the Nakaza, playing a little role in the drama "Taira no Masakado".

October 1953: Sawamura Kuninosuke takes the name of Sawamura Tokiya.

August 1955: Tokiya becomes disciple of Morita Kan'ya XIV, who gives him the name of Bandô Moriwaka.
