Nakamura Kamenojô I
 

The actor Nakamura Kamenojô I held this name from the beginning of the 1850s to the 12th lunar month of 1853, then from the 7th lunar month of 1854 to March 1881.

Born the 17th day of the 8th lunar month of 1860 [3]. Was he a disciple of Nakamura Kamenojô I? The question is still unanswered. His first name was Tamagorô [2]. He took the name of Nakamura Komasaburô in the first lunar month of 1868 [2]. He took the name of Nakamura Kamenojô II in November 1882 at the Saruwakaza [2]. He officially became nadai and took the name of Nakamura Fukushi in January 1894 at the Kabukiza, playing the roles of Okame and Oteru in the drama "Yume Musubi Chô-ni Torioi". He died the 14th of November 1898 [4].

Born in January 1886. He started his career in January 1900, most likely as a disciple of the Narikomaya guild [5]. His first stage name was Nakamura Shisamatsu. He took the name of Nakamura Kamenojô [7] in November 1911 at the Kabukiza [6]. He died the 7th of July 1924.

The actor Nakamura Kamenojô III [8] is the current holder of the name since November 1983.

[5] Was he a disciple of Nakamura Shikan IV (who died the 16th of January 1899) or a disciple of Nakamura Fukusuke IV at the beginning of his career? The question is still unanswered. He was for sure a disciple of Nakamura Shikan V.

[6] At the same time in the same theater, his master Nakamura Shikan V took the name of Nakamura Utaemon V.
