Career:

October 1978: he makes his first appearance on stage, playing the role of Furisode Shinzô in the drama "Ôshû Shiraishi Banashi".

April 1980: he joins the Zenshinza troupe and takes the name of Yamamura Kunijirô.

April 1984: Kunijirô becomes an official member of the Zenshinza troupe.

October 1985: Kunijirô receives the 40th Artistic Prize of the Japanese Government Cultural Agency (bunkachô geijutsusai shô) for his performance in the role of Shinkichi in the drama "Kôdan Sayo Kinuta".

May 1999: Kunijirô plays for the first time the role of Ohama in the drama "Shinsarayashiki Tsuki no Amagasa", which is performed at the National Theater.

May 2000: Kunijirô plays the role of Otsuta in the drama "Ippon Gatana Dohyô Iri", which is performed at the National Theater to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the death of Kawarazaki Kunitarô V. His stage partner in the role of Komagata Mohei is Nakamura Umenosuke.

May 2001: Yamamura Kunijirô takes the prestigious name of Segawa Kikunojô VII at the National Theater, playing the role of Chiyo in the "Terakoya" scene of the drama "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami".

Segawa Kikunojô VII is a young promising onnagata actor and nimaime actor. He is one of the leading actors (the second onnagata after Kawarazaki Kunitarô) of the third generation of the Zenshinza troupe.

Segawa Kikunojô VII's best roles: Naritsune ("Heike Nyogo-ga-Shima"), Tatsusaburô ("Ippon Gatana Dohyô Iri") and Matsushima Genta ("Shima Chidori").
