Born in the prefecture of Nagasaki the 17th of January 1931. He started his career in September 1948 as a disciple of Nakamura Moshio IV, receiving the name of Nakamura Chôkichi and making his debut at the Shinbashi Enbujô. He took the name of Nakamura Nakanojô in January 1951. He was allowed to revive the dormant name of Nakamura Sen'ya, which was used for the last time at the end of the 1720s. He became nadai and took the name of Nakamura Sen'ya II in September 1955, playing the role of Yaoya Oshichi in the drama "Shôchikubai Yushima no Kakegaku". He was promoted to the second league of actors (junkanbu shôshin) in June 1975. This supporting onnagata actor's most famous role is the babysitter in "Ippon Gatana Dohyô Iri", for which he received prizes in November 1983 and April 1989. He appeared on stage for the last time in April 2008, in Tôkyô at the Kabukiza, where he performed in the drama "Irezumi Chôhan". He died the 23rd of March 2010.
