Dates of birth and death unknown. Disciple of Tamazawa Saijirô I, he received the name of Tamazawa Yasugorô. He was recorded for the first time in Kyôto, as an iroko in the 1751 hyôbanki. He became wakashugata in 1755 and wakaonnagata in 1756. He took the name of Tamazawa Saijirô II in the 11th lunar month of 1760 in Kyôto, where he performed in the kaomise drama "Kiku Nagashi Kokka Taiheiki", which was produced by Nakamura Senzô and also celebrated the shûmei of Nakamura Manbê. He quickly became disciple of Ichikawa Danzô III, became tachiyaku and received the name of Ichikawa Saizô III in the 1st lunar month of 1761, when he played in Kyôto at the Kitagawa no Shibai the role of the wakatô Katsusuke in the new year ni-no-kawari drama "Keisei Kachiodera". He became katakiyaku in the 11th lunar month of 1770, when he played in Kyôto at the Kitagawa no Shibai the role of the yakko Sunahei in the kaomise drama "Sakae Genji Gojin no Kachidoki", which was produced by Mimasu Tokujirô I. He changed his name to Ichikawa Saizô, using a different ideogram for Sai, in the 11th lunar month of 1772, when he played at the Minamigawa no Shibai the role of Shundô Genba in the kaomise drama "Ôsaka Zaiku Araki no Mokuzô", which was produced by Yoshizawa Iroha I. He took the name of Otowa Jirôza II in the 11th lunar month of 1776 in Kyôto, where he performed in the kaomise drama "Oso Uji Yodo no Irifune", which was produced by Matsuyama Kogenji and also celebrated the shûmei of Mihogi Gizaemon II. He settled in Edo in Fall 1778. He performed in the 11th lunar month of 1778 at the Ichimuraza in Masuyama Kinpachi I's kaomise drama "Sakimasuya Ume no Kachidoki", which also welcomed in Edo the actor Onoe Kikugorô I and celebrated the shûmei of Ikushima Daikichi IV. He went back to Kyôto in Fall 1780 and he performed in the 11th lunar month of 1780 in Kyôto in the kaomise drama "Hoshi Matsuri Fukki no Kurairi", which was produced by Nakayama Ihachi I. He was active in Kyôto up to the second half of the 1790s. He performed as a jitsuaku in the 11th lunar month of 1795 at the Minamigawa no Shibai in the kaomise drama "Hajimete Hiraku Nanshi no Hanabusa". No stage record afterwards. In his latter years, he was both an actor and a tôdori.
