History

The dance-drama "Jitsugetsusei Chûya no Oriwake" was premiered in the 9th lunar month of 1859 at the Ichimuraza [more details]. It was staged several times between its premiere and the end of the Meiji period. The title "Ryûsei" was used for the 1st time in January 1925, in Ôsaka at the Nakaza.
