Comments:

Wakaura Kinjûrô was a Kamigata actor, who was active in Ôsaka, Kyôto and Edo from the second half of the 1700s to the first half of the 1730s. He was able to perform a wide range of roles as he was, depending of the season, either a wakaonnagata or a tachiyaku. As a wakaonnagata, he was jô-jô-kichi three times, in 1721, 1732 and 1733. He was less successful as a tachiyaku. He excelled in onna budô. He most likely died in 1735.

In the Ritsumeikan University Actors Database, Sodesaki Iroha was reported as being the first stage name of Wakaura Kinjûrô. He was Sodesaki Iroha between 1688 and 1712, Sodesaki Wakaura I between 1712 and 1721 and finally Wakaura Kinjûrô from 1721. We've discarded this version and stayed in line with the pieces of data from Nojima Jusaburô's book "Kabuki Jinmei Jiten".
