Dates of birth and death unknown. Disciple of Nagawa Shimesuke III, his first pen name was Minegoto Yasosuke. He worked in the 11th lunar month of 1849 in Kyôto at the Minamigawa no Shibai. He took the names of Nagawa Shimesuke IV and Chikamatsu Yasoô in 1867 and in 1874. This Kamigata sakusha most likely died in 1880.
