Nakamura Gyoraku I
 

The actor Nakamura Sukegorô II took the name of Nakamura Gyoraku I when he retired in the 11th lunar month of 1803.

Dates of birth and death unknown. His first stage name was Ichikawa Tsunejûrô [1]. He took the name of Nakamura Gyoraku II in the 11th lunar month of 1822, performing at the Moritaza [2] in Masuyama Kinpachi II's kaomise drama "Hanayagura Wakoku no Kachidoki", which also celebrated the shûmei of Iwai Shijaku I and Ichikawa Dannosuke IV. His rank in the 1823 Edo hyôbanki, jitsuaku/katakiyaku section was jô-jô (superior - superior) [visual]. He was recorded for the last time the same year, when he performed in the 4th lunar month of 1823 in the same theater in the drama "Mutsu Chidori Koi no Shiranami". No record afterwards.

Notes

[1] The actor Iwai Kiyotarô IV also held the name of Ichikawa Tsunejûrô from the 11th lunar month of 1811 to the 10th lunar month of 1820.

[2] The Moritaza was closed from the 7th lunar month of 1818 to the 10th lunar month of 1822. Its license was used by the Kawarasakiza. This kaomise drama celebrated the reopening of the theater.
