The Anegawa clan was an important one for the Kamigata Kabuki. It was founded in the 11th lunar month of 1710 by Anegawa Shinshirô I and its last great actor was Anegawa Shinshirô III, who died the 26th of the 2nd lunar month of 1805. There is still one actor holding this last name: Anegawa Shinnosuke, a supporting actor performing with the Zenshinza troupe but this actor has no relationship to the old Kamigata Anegawa clan.
