Born the 19th of May 1941. Son of Ichikawa Arajirô II and grandson of Ichikawa Arajirô I, he made his debut on stage (hatsubutai) and received the name of Ichikawa Arajirô III in September 1957 at the Kabukiza, playing the role of Fukumatsu in the drama "Môja Zuma". This program celebrated also the shûmei of Matsumoto Kôjaku I, Nakamura Kichigorô I, Matsumoto Komagorô II and Matsumoto Kônosuke. It was also the hatsubutai of Matsumoto Matsunosuke. He appeared on stage for the last time in July 1969, in Tôkyô at the National Theatre, where he played the role of Chikamatsu Kanroku in the 4th act of "Kanadehon Chûshingura". No record afterwards.
