Arequipa is a beautiful city located at 2300 meters above sea level and is famous for its colonial buildings made with sillar, a grey/white volcanic rock. Arequipa's nickname is "the white city" and its citizens (Arequipeņos) are proud to say that "when the moon separated from planet Earth, it forgot Arequipa"
